Reading and Writing

Welcome to the Reading and Writing website.

During the course of the year we will cover the district's student learning objectives.  Please click the link and view pages 38-44.  The revised Alaska state standards are here.

The students will explore a variety of writing strategies, including structured and creative writing.  Strong emphasis will be placed on sentence structure, grammar, and syntax.

Reading will be addressed through a variety of fun and engaging activities including whole class, small group, and individual opportunities.

The students will serve as Reading Buddies with Mrs. Pilon's Kindergarten class on Tuesday afternoons, 3:00 to 3:30 PM.

Current Topic

Superhero Project 2025

We are reading the unit titled “Above, Below, and Beyond” and we will read the story “The Mighty Mars Rovers.”

The students will write the origin paragraph for their superhero story.

We are reading and discussing Agatha Christie’s greatest murder mystery, And Then There Were None.
