Third Grade
​Reading and Writing

Welcome to the Reading and Writing website.  

​During the course of the year we will cover the district's student learning objectives.  Please click the link and view pages 24-30.  Here are the third grade state standards for English-Language Arts.
​
The students will explore a variety of writing strategies, including structured and creative writing.  Strong emphasis will be placed on sentence structure, grammar, and syntax.

Reading will be addressed through a variety of fun and engaging activities including whole class, small group, and individual opportunities.  The students will serve as Reading Buddies with Mrs. Pilon's Kindergarten class on Tuesday afternoons, 3:10 to 3:40 PM.

Writing Fundamentals



The students need to complete the weekly reading log.  Please ensure that your child reads, at least, 20 minutes every day.  The students should complete AR quizzes on every story and book that they read.  

​The students should consistently take AR quizzes on the computer after they finish reading books.  They earn prizes for earning AR points.
